Iran Launches Attack on Kuwait (File Photo)
Tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate dangerously. The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that its forces recently intercepted and shot down four Iranian drones launched toward vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. In a swift counterstrike, the US military targeted and destroyed Iranian radar sites on Qeshm Island and in Goruk, located along Iran’s southern coast. Seeking immediate retaliation for the American strikes, Iran has launched a fresh wave of attacks against Kuwait and Bahrain.
Iran targeted Kuwait using a barrage of missiles and drones. The Kuwaiti military confirmed on social media that its air defense systems are actively engaging hostile incoming targets. The military's General Staff reassured the public that any loud explosions heard across the country are the result of air defences successfully intercepting enemy threats. Additionally, authorities have urged citizens and residents to follow safety guidelines issued by local officials strictly.
Shortly after targeting Kuwait, Iran expanded its assault by launching missiles and drones into Bahrain. Air raid sirens wailed across several parts of the country, prompting authorities to issue urgent advisories urging residents to remain calm and immediately move to secure shelters.
This rapid sequence of events—the US strikes on Iranian assets followed by Iran’s retaliation against Kuwait and Bahrain—is poised to trigger a severe escalation not just between Washington and Tehran, but across the wider Middle East. Both sides have repeatedly violated ceasefire understandings, raising deep international concern.
Addressing the fragile situation, US President Donald Trump previously remarked on the elusive nature of peace in the region, stating that a "ceasefire" in that part of the world often simply means "you're shooting with more restraint."
